About

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” — Maya Angelou

I was born and raised near Charleston, West Virginia. We called a little unincorporated town named Holly Lawn home. It was a couple of miles from one of the major employers, DuPont Plant, and the “bigger” town of Belle that we often said was home (Holly Lawn being too indistinct when meeting new people).

My father was a full-time Army Reserves First Sergent. The military seemed to call to him as he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. My mother worked 10 minutes from our home in data entry for a local machinery company.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s, we are the generation raised on Saturday morning and afterschool cartoons like G.I. Joe, Transformers, ThunderCats, and more. Summer days were spent playing kick ball, tag, riding skateboards and bikes until the street lights came on. We watched the hairbands rise, and then fall at the hands of grunge before giving way to music television never playing actual music anymore. The before times of the internet, cell phones, and social media dominated our daily lives.

I’ve always wanted to be a writer, a creator, and artist at heart. Movies, books, and comic books were my companions. From playing with action figures and even briefly drawing and writing a comic book while in grade school, I was always developing stories in my head.

Thinking a career that could help this storytelling nature grow, I went to Marshall University to study journalism. Before long, the more artistic side took over and I switched to an advertising focus and graduated in 2000. I went back shortly after and studied public relations to receive my master’s degree in 2003.

Since then, I’ve had an amazing 20 plus career in public relations, marketing, and communications. I’ve won awards for writing and design. Been recognized by peers, and had work published nationally in my profession.

But something still seemed to be missing. I had always thought my career would allow me to also touch upon my creative desires that inspired me growing up.

But the years went by quick. Life took over. It was always something I would “get to” when time allowed. And the years went by and by. Then more years. Finally, it was time to start telling my own stories again. And here we are. That is the purpose of this website. To begin a new story. Through my thoughts on life. Through music. Through art. Welcome to the start of a new journey.
